Police arrested two people on suspicion of stabbing a man in a parking lot near Pacific Coast Highway and Atlantic Avenue early Monday morning, according to authorities.

The attack happened around 3:50 a.m., Long Beach police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.

When officers got to the scene they found a man who’d been stabbed in the upper body, she said. Medics took him to a nearby hospital where he was treated for injuries that weren’t life-threatening, according to Dandoy.

Police quickly found a car that had been involved in the crime and arrested two people who were with it, Dandoy said.

It’s not clear what sparked the stabbing. Police said they’re still investigating.

The victim and suspects know each other, according to Dandoy, but she declined to say how.

Authorities identified the suspected attackers as Alex Chambers, 29, and Garrett Cady, 28. Both are from Long Beach, Dandoy said.

Both men were booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Dandoy said.

Chambers was also booked on an additional charge of driving without a license, according to authorities. He was held in lieu of $35,000 bail, and Cady was held without bail, police said.
