Long Beach police arrested three people suspected of leading police on a brief chase in a stolen car before they crashed into another vehicle near El Dorado Park Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The chase started when an Anaheim Police Department helicopter noticed two men and one woman enter the stolen vehicle around 10:15 a.m. at the Long Beach Towne Center, according to authorities. Long Beach police officers tried to pull over the driver who failed to stop, Officer Carlos Sandoval said.

“A short pursuit ensued of the stolen vehicle but was quickly canceled due to safety concerns,” Sandoval said.

The drivers of the stolen vehicle kept going after the pursuit ended and crashed into another vehicle not far from El Dorado Park, near Spring Street and the 605 Freeway, according to Sandoval.

All three suspects were taken into custody pending further investigation, and no injuries were reported, he said.
