Long Beach police say a SWAT team was called in to search a residential building after a domestic violence suspect threatened to shoot officers.
Police initially responded to a domestic violence incident between a man and a woman Thursday, according to a statement from the Long Beach Police Department. Police said a SWAT team then responded to the building in the 2400 block of Atlantic Avenue, a couple of blocks south of Willow Street, around 8 p.m., when the suspect made a statement that ”he would shoot officers if they arrive.”
Video from the scene showed multiple SWAT team vehicles deployed to the building. The street was closed off, and officers could be seen and heard using flash-bang explosive devices at the scene.
Police searched the building after obtaining a search warrant and determined the suspect was not in the residence, the LBPD said.
The investigation is ongoing.
