Long Beach Police Department officers surrounded an apartment building in the Bixby Park area where a domestic violence suspect and victim were barricaded.
The situation began at 9:54 p.m. Wednesday with a domestic violence call in the 100 block of Cherry Avenue, LBPD spokeswoman Jennifer Serafin told City News Service.
The man who is the alleged suspect and the victim were barricaded inside an apartment, she said.
Officers worked to de-escalate the situation and shut down traffic on Cherry between Ocean Boulevard and Broadway and on First Street between Cherry and Junipero avenues.
The suspect was eventually taken into custody by a SWAT team with no injuries reported, police said.
