A 15-year-old boy was transported to a local hospital after a man shot him in the Rose Park neighborhood in Long Beach early Sunday morning, according to Long Beach Police Department spokesman Brandon Fahey.
Around 4 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Raymond Avenue and found the teen suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body, Fahey said.
The victim said he was in the area when he began arguing with the suspect, which then escalated into the shooting, according to Fahey. The teen fled the immediate area on foot when the suspect fired shots, he said.
Officers detained a man at the scene, and the investigation to determine his involvement with the incident is underway, Fahey said.
No other injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing, he said.
