Three Long Beach teens are facing attempted murder charges after one of them conspired with the other two to attack his pregnant girlfriend in order to induce a miscarriage, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Angel Contreras, 17, Claudia Rodriguez, 18, and Candy Patricio, 19, each face two counts of attempted murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and one count each of kidnapping and assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, officials stated Tuesday.

Contreras reportedly conspired with Rodriguez and Patricio to attack his pregnant girlfriend so she would miscarry, said Deputy District Attorney Troy Davis of the Victim Impact Program, who is assigned to the case.

Prosecutors said that on March 4, as the girlfriend walked to Contreras’ home she was allegedly accosted and punched in the stomach by Rodriguez and Patricio.

“Less than three weeks later, Contreras boarded a bus with his girlfriend and allegedly alerted Rodriguez and Patricio of their location so they could assault the victim again,” Davis said.

She was reportedly assaulted by Rodriguez and Patricio when she exited the bus. They also unsuccessfully tried to drag her into a car but a passerby saw the attack and saved the victim from being kidnapped, the prosecutor said.

The three defendants are scheduled to be arraigned May 31 in Department S01 at the Long Beach Courthouse.

The case is being investigated by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
