Following two other arrests over the last year, a third Long Beach resident has now been arrested in connection with the April 28, 2013 murder of 39-year-old Enrique Casique.
Casique was found last year lying in the middle of the street near Junipero and Spaulding Street at around 3AM with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He died before officers even arrived.
At first, detectives has few leads for who committed the crime and asked for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. A few months after the murder, however, on June 4, 2013, 32-year-old Miguel Medina was arrested in connection to the crime; and earlier this year–on January 23–30-year-old Jose Torres was also arrested.
On April 4, detectives issued an arrest warrant for 32-year-old Marcial Rios. Rios was arrested on April 12 after being take into custody by U.S. Customs Agents at the U.S.-Mexico border in San Ysidro. He was arraigned on April 17.
No motive has been released for the shooting. All three face murder charges that have been filed against them by the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office.
