UPDATED MONDAY 8:37AM | Police are seeking the public’s help today in solving the murder that left a man shot in the head and left for dead in the middle of Junipero St. early Sunday morning. The victim was identified Sunday night as 39 year-old Enrique Casique of Long Beach, by Lt. Joe Bale of the coroner’s office.

Sgt. Eaton of the Long Beach Police Department said that detectives have no idea why Casique was shot or what circumstances may have led up to the shooting. The victim died in the street before officers arrived to the scene.

Eaton also said he’s heard media reports that it may have been a robbery gone bad but that he doesn’t know where that information is coming from.

“We don’t yet know what happened,” Eaton said. “But if there are people out there who know something about this alleged robbery, we would certainly like to hear from them.”

Eaton said that homicide detectives were asking for the public’s help on
the Casique case.
