Two men were arrested Sunday in connection with the fatal shooting of two men in the Willowbrook area on Saturday that included the death of a Long Beach resident, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies said Tuesday.

Authorities said the shooting happened at 10:35PM on Saturday, August 8, on the 11800 block of Wilmington Avenue, in the unincorporated Willowbrook area.

The victims included Long Beach resident Andy Chicas and Compton resident Jose Aragon. Both victims were 21-years-old and were pronounced dead at a hospital, according to Deputy Kelvin Moody of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Deputies arrested Lawndale resident Angel Mares, 22, and Gardena resident Abraham Dorantes, 21, on Sunday, with each facing two counts of murder and being held in lieu of $1 million bail each, said Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

They were booked at the sheriff’s Century Station in Lynwood.

Officials said the shooting happened after an argument between the victims and the suspects inside a McDonald’s. The situation then escalated into a fight in the restaurant’s parking lot.

At some point, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and shot both victims in the chest, then made a getaway in a black, four-door sedan last seen traveling northbound on Wilmington Avenue, Moody said.
