Long Beach police are investigating a pair of shootings over the weekend that sent two gunshot victims to local hospitals on separate days, authorities said.

On both occasions, police were notified of the shootings by hospital personnel when the victims arrived for help. Some details are still not clear though, according to officials.

Saturday, May 7

Officers were dispatched to a local hospital at 3:56AM when they were notified that an adult male gunshot victim arrived for treatment, according to Marlene Arrona of the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

The injury appeared to be non-life-threatening and the victim was in stable condition, she added.

Officials do not know the location of the shooting and no suspect/s or are in custody.

Sunday, May 8

Police were dispatched to a local hospital at 5:49AM regarding an adult male shooting victim, Arrona said.

“The victim sustained a gunshot injury to the lower extremity and was in stable condition,” she said.

After further investigation, police found a possible crime scene on the 1000 block of Alamitos Avenue.

An officer-involved shooting also occurred during the weekend. During that incident police shot and killed a man carrying an assault rifle-style airsoft gun Saturday afternoon.
