Two 30-year-old men were struck—one fatally—while walking in the fast lane of the 710 Freeway in Long Beach early Saturday, June 23.

Paramedics rushed the injured man to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center with major injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The two men were walking in the number one lane of traffic of the northbound freeway, north of Del Amo Boulevard, when they were struck by a 2005 Honda Civic at 2:06 a.m.

Alcohol is being investigated as a factor in the collision, the CHP said.
