Police say they have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of killing a 32-year-old homeless man last month near a railroad track in North Long Beach.
The fatal shooting happened at about 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 12, where railroad tracks cross Artesia Boulevard between Cherry Avenue and Paramount Boulevard, according to Long Beach police.
Officers responding to the scene that day found a man, later identified as 32-year-old Steven Vejar, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On Thursday, detectives arrested two men on Linden Avenue near 55th Street on suspicion of carrying out the fatal shooting. They are 50-year-old Josh Porras and 41-year-old Maria Gomez Gallegos, both of Long Beach, police said.
Police did not disclose a suspected motive for the killing, nor if the suspected shooters knew the victim.
They were each booked into jail on suspicion of murder and were each being held on $2 million bail.
