UPDATE | Authorities have identified a man who was shot and killed inside a Long Beach residence Thursday night in what is being investigated as a gang-related incident.

Ellis Spillman, 42, of Long Beach was shot in his upper torso inside a residence when a male suspect confronted him with gunfire, according to the Long Beach Police Department. He died at the scene.

6/29/18 at 8:21 a.m. | By City News Service | Investigators searched Friday for whoever shot and killed a man in Long Beach.

Police officers responded around 9:50 p.m. Thursday to a call of a shooting that had just occurred in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Avenue and found a man shot at least once, according to Lt. G. Prieto of the Long Beach Police Department.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Homicide detectives are conducting interviews, Prieto said, but no suspect information is immediately available.
