Police say they have arrested a 69-year-old Long Beach woman on suspicion of killing another woman at a nursing home near the Long Beach Airport.
At about 7:26 p.m. on Saturday, officers were called to a nursing home on Grand Avenue, just south of Highway 405, for a report of an assault, according to Long Beach police.
When they arrived, officers found a woman unresponsive with injuries showing she had been physically assaulted. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her name and age were withheld pending family notification.
Near the scene, police say, officers arrested 69-year-old Estela Jaramillo Rodriguez, of Long Beach, on suspicion of murder.
She was booked into jail on $2 million bail.
Police did not disclose if Rodriguez knew the victim prior to the assault.
