A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Compton, and the driver suspected of causing the crash was at-large this morning.

Deputies responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision at 8:50 p.m. Monday, according to Sgt. D. Martinez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Compton Station.

The victim was believed to have been traveling eastbound on Alondra Boulevard when her vehicle was struck by the suspect’s vehicle going southbound on Bullis Road, the sheriff’s department said. That intersection is about half a mile outside of Long Beach’s northern city limits.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Her age and name weren’t disclosed.

The driver of the suspect vehicle had fled the scene before deputies arrived.

It was unclear if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. A detailed description of the driver was not immediately available.
