Police are investigating a shooting in North Long Beach that left a woman injured just after midnight Friday, authorities said.

An officer was dispatched to a Downey hospital at 1:13AM on Friday, March 18 regarding a gunshot victim who was shot on the 6800 block of Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokesman Brad Johnson said.

“Assisting officers responded to the alleged shooting location and found evidence of a shooting,” Johnson added.

The victim, described only as an adult female, was treated for a non-life-threatening injury to her lower extremity, according to Johnson.

“She was shot by unknown subjects who were in a vehicle at approximately 12:30AM,” he added.

It was unclear if the vehicle was moving at the time of the shooting and it is unknown if the shooting is gang-related. Officials do not have a vehicle description available at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
