Long Beach police are investigating a shooting that left a woman wounded Sunday less than a mile from where a mother and her young daughter were shot and killed the day before.

Officers were called to a local hospital at about 9:55PM on Sunday, August 7, regarding a woman who walked in with a gunshot wound to her lower extremity, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.

“The woman indicated she was leaving a business in the 1300 block of Long Beach Boulevard, when she heard a gunshot and felt the impact,” Pratt said in an email.

The victim did not see where the shot came from but noted seeing a group in a nearby parking lot that ran off, officials stated. Officers responded to the area to investigate but did not find anyone.

The woman’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. The investigation remains ongoing.
