Detectives are trying to determine how and why a woman was shot to death in Long Beach on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said they were called to the scene around 3:25 p.m. in the 2300 block of Locust Avenue where firefighters were trying to help a woman who was “in full arrest.”
The woman died at the scene. She’d been shot in the upper body, police said.

Homicide detectives are now investigating.
“The motive for the shooting and circumstances of the incident are still under investigation,” police said.
Authorities identified the woman as Myriam Zaragoza, a 43-year-old resident of Long Beach.
