In the first of its kind ever granted to a California university, California State University Long Beach’s College of Engineering received a $500,000 matching grant from the Beavers Charitable Trust.

The trust, founded in 1977 to help universities and students involved in heavy construction, only awarded five other schools in addition to CSULB. The grant—of which about $150,000 has been raised to match it—will help establish an endowment for a Professor of Practice in Heavy Civil Construction.

“We are certainly excited about this donation because of the near- and long-term ramifications it can have for our engineering students,” said Dr. Forouzan Golshani, Dean of the College of Engineering. “It shows the great confidence the Beavers Charitable trustees have in the programs and professors of this university and I share that confidence.”
