UPDATED: Dead Body Discovered in Promenade Loft Identified; Cause of Death Still Undetermined

UPDATED 8:36AM | The dead man discovered inside a Downtown luxury loft Wednesday was identified this morning as Rob Charles Ames, 42, of Long Beach, said Lt. Joe Bale of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. An autopsy may be performed later today, he said.

ORIGINAL 6:51PM | A dead body was discovered Wednesday afternoon inside a fourth floor unit at The Lofts at Promenade. According to the police and witnesses, the victim was a male and it is unclear whether a crime was committed.

Marlene Arrona of the Long Beach Police Department said that officers responded to the 200 block of Long Beach Blvd. at 2:30PM in response to a dead body call, but that no other information was available.

“At this time, the cause of death is still undetermined,” said Arrona. “The investigation is ongoing.”

Forensics units were on site Wednesday afternoon.
