Three local nonprofits were awarded a total of $112,000 from Dignity Health St. Mary Medical Center for supporting the hospital by addressing issues of mental health and chronic illnesses among low-income youth and minorities.

The American Heart Association, The Cambodian Association of America and The Pathways Volunteer Hospice were each awarded $37,571 and will be honored at a breakfast on Thursday at 9:00AM in the Health Enhancement Center at St. Mary Medical Center.

“We are thrilled to be able to help these community-based organizations increase their positive health impact on underserved areas in and around Long Beach,” said St. Mary Medical Center Foundation President Drew Gagner in a statement. “It’s part of the Dignity Health mission to ‘partner with others in the community to improve the quality of life,’ and we feel that, with these grants, we’re doing just that. We applaud their efforts and are very happy to support them.”
