Milana’s New York Pizzeria and Fresh Kabobs, two of the three City Place restaurants displaced last month by the construction of a new Chuck E. Cheese, are now up and running in their new locations on 4th St. The third, Mitaki, plans to open within a week.

The three restaurants were moved from their original locations on the southeast corner of 4th St. and the Promenade when Chuck E. Cheese requested space in addition to the former Hometown Buffet unit it would be renting. City Place’s management company, Beverly Hills-based TEC Property Management, exercized the terms of its leases with the three adjoining restaurants and paid for the relocation of the operations to other units in the shopping center.

Though the displaced businesses were originally told that their new homes would be operable the day they were forced to hand over their keys, the new locations being offered by City Place were previously retail shops and required construction to make them restaurant-ready. The move from a stand-alone building at the old location to one that now includes residential units overhead also compounded efforts to get things up to code in time.

Milana’s reopened first, around two weeks ago, after more than a month of closure. Fresh Kabobs opened on Sunday.

“The three restaurants [opened] in stages due to each one’s specific construction requirements and venue,” said Tony Shooshani of City Place. “As noted, Milana’s has already re-opened and thanks to our community’s terrific support is doing great business. In addition, Fresh Kabobs is now open and Mitaki is scheduled to re-open in the coming days. We look forward to an official grand re-opening event for all three restaurants soon after.”

The new restaurants are located at 143-147 E. 4th St. A grand re-opening event will be held on Wednesday, October 23 at 10:30AM on 4th Street between Promenade North and Pine Avenue in Downtown, directly in front of the trio of outlets.
