After months of negotiating, the International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU) and Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) finally agreed to terms on a new six-year contract that will cover more than 26,000 dockworkers in ports and harbors along the entire Pacific coast.

The parties will not discuss specifics until both sides have had a chance to relay the deal to their respective members, who will have to ratify the agreement before it is made official.  The old contract has been temporarily extended so that business may continue while the new deal is discussed.
