1:45pm | During its most recent annual conference the International Downtown Association (IDA) recognized the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) with a Downtown Merit Award for its work and initiative related to web, mobile and database integration.

The project, which expands and enhances the organization’s ability to promote Downtown businesses, events and other happenings, was among 10 qualified entries in the category of Downtown Leadership and Management. This category features comprehensive and unique organizational approaches, projects or programs that improved the effectiveness of downtown management organizations.

“Integrating our databases across all platforms has allowed the DLBA to bring a powerful tool to residents, visitors and businesses,” said DLBA President and CEO Kraig Kojian. “In addition to making our website and smartphone application more user-friendly, it has also improved the quality of information, while the integration has enhanced the administrative efficiency and effectiveness of our organization.”

The integration project was implemented by Geofitti, a Downtown Long Beach firm, which develops and produces interactive programs aimed at linking data to real world places.

“The DLBA’s project received the IDA Merit Award for delivering excellence in downtown management,” said David Downey, IDA President and CEO. “Each year the IDA Awards Jury recognizes organizations that utilize best practices in our industry. The web, mobile and database integration project is a shining example of excellent downtown management that delivers measureable results.”
