The Postal Office in Downtown Long Beach is expanding operations and hours during the holiday season to combat the normally frantic gift-shipping chaos of December. This seven-day service includes retail lobby and package delivery on Sundays.

The Downtown Long Beach Post Office, located at 300 N. Long Beach Blvd., will be open with full retail service on Sundays from 10:00AM to 4:00PM through December 21, in an effort to make this holiday season an easy one for shipping and receiving gifts.

“We are geared up for the holidays and doing everything we can to provide excellent service,” said Long Beach Postmaster Tyrone Williams in an earlier statement.

The Postal Service is also expanding city-wide operations to include delivering Priority Mail packages on Sundays during December.

“It’s all about customer service and convenience – especially during our busiest time of year,” said Williams in a statement. “Our goal is to exceed the high standard of service we set last year by delivering on our promise of timely, affordable and trackable delivery for our customers.”

Many Post Offices will also provide after-hours service at self-service kiosks, where customers can weigh mail, ship packages and buy stamps with credit or debit cards.

Customers can also shop and ship from their home or office anytime on the Postal Service’s website. Click-N-Ship and other online services allow customers to print shipping labels, order free Priority Mail boxes, purchase postage and even request free Package Pickup.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
