Long Beach police are trying to figure out who vandalized more than 50 cars at a local Toyota dealership’s storage lot this week.
Someone got into the lot and used an unknown object to scratch the paint on dozens of cars between 4 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday, Long Beach police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.
The lot is fenced off and tucked into an industrial area on Wardlow Road near where it dead-ends at the western edge of the Long Beach Airport. It holds cars for nearby West Coast Toyota at Willow Street and Redondo Avenue.
Forensics technicians were examining the cars Tuesday afternoon. Police estimated about 53 had been damaged.
Police asked anyone with information to contact detectives at 562-570-7250. Anyone who wants to submit an anonymous tip can contact 1-800-222-TIPS or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
