A driver and passenger were transported to a local hospital after their vehicle crashed into a light pole in the area of Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and Gladys Avenue on Monday morning, police said.
The accident occurred at about 9:30AM when a vehicle, traveling eastbound on PCH, struck a light pole, said Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
As a result of the accident, the light pole fell and blocked the eastbound lanes of PCH. Crews responded to remove the pole from traffic lanes, which resulted in eastbound PCH traffic being diverted to northbound or southbound Temple Avenue temporarily. All lanes are now open, Pratt said.
No further information is available, including what caused the accident and the current conditions of the driver and passenger. We will update this story as we learn more.
