A total of 11,176 students are expected to be conferred academic degrees from Cal State Long Beach (CSULB) this week, during nine commencement ceremonies May 22-25, according to the university.

Officials said a total of 9,244 undergraduates and 1,932 postgraduates will be receiving 151 different academic degrees. According to preliminary graduation statistics shared with the Post, a total of 3,398 undergrad and masters students filed for graduation this spring from the liberal arts college, 2,888 undergrad, masters and doctoral students in the Health & Human Sciences, 1,600 undergrad and masters students in Business Administration, 1,255 undergrad and masters students in Engineering, 997 undergrad and masters students in the Arts, 576 undergrad and master students in Natural Sciences & Mathematics and 462 undergrad, masters and doctoral students in Education.

While the ceremonies have traditionally been held on the Central Quad, this spring ceremonies will take place at the Intramural Field to save money and “safely accommodate growing commencement crowds,” university officials previously said.

Last spring, over 10,000 degrees were conferred and upwards of 70,000 family and friends were expected to visit the university during the four-day period.

In January, the university announced it received a record number of applicants for the fall 2018 term—more than 102,000 undergraduate applications.  In April, CSULB officials revealed it was selected for The Princeton Review’s 2018 edition of its annual “Colleges That Pay You Back” guide.

All ceremony guests are required to have a valid ticket to enter, regardless of age. Ceremonies last about two hours and will also be live streamed in the adjacent air-conditioned Walter Pyramid (where tickets are not required). Parking will be free in all general lots and parking structures.
