The Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) Board of Education selected Felton Williams, a third-term school board member, as its new president yesterday, the school district announced today.

During the regularly scheduled school board meeting, the board also selected member Jon Meyer as its new vice president.

The LBUSD Board of Education has five members, who are elected by geographical area for four-year terms, a release stated.

According to the release, the LBUSD is the largest employer in Long Beach, with around 12,000 full- and part-time employees and an operating budget of $798 million annually.
