Long Beach City College (LBCC) announced its 2015 Hall of Fame inductees today, with selected honorees ranging from Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) Chief Robert Luna to Molina Healthcare executive Dr. Molina Bernadett.
The LBCC Hall of Fame was established in 1972 to honor LBCC alumni for notable achievements, honoring 159 individuals total in years past.
“The Alumni Hall of Fame is Long Beach City College’s most prestigious award,” said LBCC President Eloy Ortiz Oakley in a statement. “This year’s honorees are not only successful in their careers but contribute tremendously to the betterment of the community. We are proud that they are LBCC alumni.”
This year’s honorees will be recognized in a ceremony on October 30, according to an LBCC release.
The complete list of 2015 honorees is:
Dr. Martha Molina Bernadett, a native of Long Beach and executive vice president at Molina Healthcare. She received an associate’s degree at LBCC before graduating with degrees in math and chemistry at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). She received a doctor of medicine degree from the University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine) and a Master’s in Business Administration from Pepperdine University. Bernadett has founded the Molina Institute for Cultural Competency to provide healthcare to underserved populations, particularly latino. With her husband, she also founded the Molina Foundation to combat illiteracy in hard-to-reach populations.
LBPD Chief Robert Luna earned an associate’s degree from LBCC before graduating with a Bachelor’s in vocational education and a Master’s in Public Administration from CSULB. He also graduated from Harvard University’s Senior Executives in State and Local government program, the Delinquency Control Institute from the University of Southern California and the FBI’s National Executive Institute. Before being sworn in as the current police chief last November, Luna had managed the daily operations of the Patrol Bureau since 2006. He joined the LBPD in 1985.
Liz Minor has worked to better the community for over 60 years, founding the Los Altos Bobby Sox Girls League and working for Emerson PTA, Camp Fire U.S.A., Long Beach Children’s Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Miller Children’s Hospital Advisory, Steel Magnolias, and the Geraldine Stramski Children’s Developmental Center. For her impactful efforts to 
help women and families, she received the Rick Rackers Women of the Year Award in 2007 and the Soroptimist Ruby Award in 2015 from the Assistance League of Long Beach.
Kevin Nagle was president of the Associated Student Body at LBCC before attending CSULB and receiving a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Speech Communications. He went on to also receive a 
Master’s in Business and Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a certificate in medical marketing from UCLA’s school of business. He spent 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry and is the current president of The Nagle Company, Inc., which oversees real estate and development projects, among other investments.
