The California State University (CSU) system has announced that the committee heading the search for CSU Long Beach’s newest president will hold its first meeting, set to be an open forum to the public, on September 30.
CSULB saw popular former President F. King Alexander step away from his position after accepting a presidency at Louisiana State University and a chancellorship at LSU A&M.
The CSULB Presidential Search Committee will be chaired by CSU Trustee Roberta Achtenberg. The other trustee members include Margaret Fortune; Lupe Garcia; Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez; CSU Trustee Chair Bob Linscheid; and CSU Chancellor Timothy P. White.
Per the policy of the CSU, the search committee’s chair must create an Advisory Committee that is comprised of faculty, students, and alumni in addition to a single member of a campus advisory board.
The advisory committee consists of the following individuals:
- CSULB Faculty members Wendy Reiboldt, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences; and Praveen Soni, Ph.D., professor, Department of Marketing
- Daniel O’Connor, Ph.D., chair, CSULB Academic Senate
- Mary Stephens, vice president, Administration and Finance, CSULB
- Jennifer Moran, development coordinator, CSULB College of the Arts (staff representative)

- The public is invited and encourage to participate in the open forum, which will be followed by a closed meeting between members of the search committee.
The CSULB Presidential Search Committee’s open forum will be held on Monday, September 30 at 10AM at the Pointe in the Walter Pyramid on campus located at 1250 N Bellflower Blvd.
