Michael Uhlenkamp has been named the new Executive Director of Media and Digital News at Cal State Long Beach (CSULB), the university announced Tuesday.
Uhlenkamp, who currently serves at the director of public affairs for the California State University (CSU) Office of the Chancellor, begins his new position on February 16 and will manage a small team of media relations specialists and a b-roll videographer.
Among his duties, he will also oversee CSULB’s News @ the Beach and Inside CSULB.
“Mike is a welcome addition to our media relations team,” said Terri M. Carbaugh, associate vice president of external relations, in a statement. “He brings extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the California State University and he will serve as a credible source for members of local, state and national media. Equally important, as a proud member of our alumni, Mike knows his way around campus and is familiar with student-life.”
Uhlenkamp said he is excited for this opportunity.
“My family and I have a great affinity for Cal State Long Beach,” Uhlenkamp said in a statement. “This is an amazing opportunity and I look forward to working with the campus community to share the many unique and wonderful stories about how the university is positively impacting the city and state.”
