The morning after a fatal motorcyle accident forced the closure of lanes on the westbound 22 during afternoon traffic yesterday, the California Highway Patrol has again shut down area connectors as part of their ongoing investigation.

An announcement from the Orange County Transportation Authority says that the closures will last a few hours and affect the following connectors: northbound 405 to westbound 22/7th Street connector, southbound 605 connector to 7th Street, southbound 405 connector to 7th Street, and the Old Ranch Parkway onramp to the northbound 405/7th Street connector.

A motorcycle accident was reported to CHP at around noon yesterday on the 7th Street connector from the northbound 405. Both the offramp and the Old Ranch freeway onramp were closed until after 5PM yesterday, backing up traffic for miles down the 405 and the 22.

Orange County Coroner’s Office officials identified the deceased motorcyclist as 57-year-old James Robinett. Though witness reports say that his motorcycle struck a car, the Orange County Register reports that the Coroner’s report listed the death as being the result of an “apparent solo motorcycle accident.”
