On Wednesday October 10th I hope you are able to join me and many others from our community to inaugurate the Distinguished Speakers Series at California State University, Long Beach. The cost for just the presentation by keynote speaker Michael Josephson may be one of the best bargains of the year, for those wishing to expand the experience I encourage you to attend the Sponsor Luncheon before the program. This is an excellent opportunity for community organizations, businesses and neighbors to share in a thought provoking and stimulating event.
Michael Josephson, founder and president of the Joseph and Edna Josephson Institute of Ethics, will be the featured speaker for the inaugural Distinguished Speaker Series at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007.
One of the nation’s foremost ethics consultants to educational institutions, major corporations and government officials, Josephson will discuss “Ethics in America,” beginning at 2 p.m. in the campus’ Carpenter Performing Arts Center, located at 6200 Atherton Street. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. for Sponsor Exhibits, live music and no-host light refreshments.
“This is the first-ever event for the Distinguished Speaker Series at Cal State Long Beach, and Michael Josephson is an ideal guest to deliver its inaugural address,” said Art Levine, founder and director of the CSULB Distinguished Speaker Series and professor of ethics and legal studies at the university. “Michael is a wonderful speaker. He has an engaging presentation style and possesses unmatched expertise in the practical application of ethics.”
Josephson has led more than 1,000 ethics programs for more than 100,000 leaders in business, government, the media, law enforcement and education. His business clients include Johnson & Johnson, Proctor & Gamble, 3M, Avery, Tyco, Halliburton, Kaiser Permanente and Enterprise Rent-A-Car among others.
In the public sphere, he has worked with the state legislatures of Iowa and Connecticut, the FBI, the IRS, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force Academy and hundreds of city and county public administrators and law enforcement professionals who have attended his customized training seminars.
Through the institute, Josephson has also launched two successful national youth initiatives – CHARACTER COUNTS! and the Pursuing Victory With Honor (PVWH) sportsmanship campaign. CHARACTER COUNTS! is the nation’s leading character education framework and reaches 6 million youth through a widespread partnership of schools and service organizations. Virtually every U.S. athletic organization endorses PVWH.
Major news media often call on Josephson for his perspective. In 2004, he was the lead expert on a “PrimeTime Live” special on cheating. He has also been featured on “Nightline,” “ABC World News Tonight,” “The Today Show,” “Fox News Live,” “CBS Evening News,” “The O’Reilly Factor” and “ESPN Sports Zone.” His commentary is heard regularly on KNX 1070 Newsradio.
Retired from his successful dual career as law professor and publishing entrepreneur, Josephson works as a full-time volunteer for the institute. All revenue from his programs and services go to support the nonprofit, nonpartisan institute and its mission – to enhance the ethical climate of society by improving organizational and personal decision making and behavior.
