Erik Sund, a veteran purchasing official, has been named Purchasing Agent for the City of Long Beach, and will oversee the City’s bid management, vendor outreach, purchasing credit card administration, and central purchasing administration.
As the City’s Purchasing Agent, Mr. Sund will be responsible for the Purchasing Division in the Department of Financial Management, and will provide on-going cost savings to citywide purchases.
“The City is committed to provide maximum opportunities for small, disadvantaged, minority, women and Long Beach business enterprises to compete successfully in supplying our needs for products and services,” Sund said.
“We do this by placing a high priority on outreach, conducting business workshops, and contacting businesses through trade fairs and local, minority and women business associations. We want to make it as easy as possible to do business with Long Beach.”
Mr. Sund comes to the City of Long Beach from the City of Downey, where he served as Purchasing Manager for more than five years. Prior to achieving that position, he was a Senior Buyer for the City of Irvine.
