The organization Mothers Against Drunk Driving is set to hold its annual fundraiser this Saturday at the Queen Mary Events Park, and there are many ways for you to help their cause. The event, “Walk Like MADD,” aims to bring awareness to the dangers of drunk driving – which, as we have seen lately, can produce tragic results.

The event itself is a fun-filled 5k that will also feature a Health Fair, educational displays and other activities. Walkers join teams and raise money for each step taken. As of this writing, MADD has raised $76,062 of their $80,000 goal for the event.

As columnist John Greet wrote in his article last week:

So, if nothing else, please visit the event as a spectator, learn more about this difficult public health and safety challenge and cheer on those who will be walking to raise funds to combat drunk driving and to assist its victims.

You can still help! Join a team and star walking by clicking this link. Also on that page, you can donate to a team that is already signed up, or volunteer to help run the event. It’s all in the name of a good cause – raising awareness about the dangers of drunk driving, and remembering those who have become victims to its violence.
