The family of Keshawn Brooks, who was fatally stabbed earlier this month, is asking the community for donations for funeral expenses, and is warning about fraudulent fundraisers.

Vaneisa Layton-Lowe, Keshawn’s aunt, said in an email that there have been multiple instances where people have impersonated the family and asked for donations.

The only legitimate fundraiser is the GoFundMe page, which can be viewed by clicking here, Layton-Lowe said.

“In spite of a few vultures panhandling on the corners of Long Bach impersonating the family, the fundraisers have been successful,” she said. “No one from Keshawn’s family are on street corners asking for donations.”
