jamie2The family of a woman found dead in a Long Beach apartment on Monday is asking for donations toward a memorial fund to help with funeral expenses, through a car wash and online fundraiser.

Jamie Ballantyne, along with 51-year-old Albert Salazar and a man who has not yet been identified, was found dead at about 7:00PM Monday when police were conducting a welfare check on the apartment in the 1100 block of Gardenia Avenue.

Autopsies to determine the exact cause of their deaths are pending, but authorities believe the three victims were poisoned by carbon monoxide as a result of using a propane heater inside the apartment.

The car wash to raise money for Jamie Ballantyne’s funeral will take place on Saturday from 9:00AM to 5:00PM at 1813 East Seventh Street in the alley between Rose Avenue and Gardenia Avenue.

“Please help us with donations,” reads a flier for the car wash created by Jamie Ballantyne’s sister, Crystal Ballantyne. “Anything will be appreciated.”

Additionally, donations can be made by clicking here.

Proceeds from the car wash and fundraiser will help pay for Jamie Ballantyne’s funeral services, her sister said.

Crystal Ballantyne said that Jamie Ballantyne was the mother of a three-year-old daughter. She did not wish to comment further about her sister or her death at this time.
