One man was murdered and two others injured last night after a walk-up shooting that authorities believe may have been gang-related on 20th Street last night. Robert Tripple, 20, died at a local hospital and two other males (19 and 20 years old) suffered non-life threatening injuries when a group of at least two males walked up to them at around 10:45pm last night. No suspect descriptions have been offered by LBPD detectives, who are currently investigating the shooting – which occurred one half-block from an LBPD Youth Services office on Pacific Avenue.
Less than one month ago, a 15-year-old was gunned down in a similar walk-up shooting outside his home on 16th Street. Police have not given any indication that the incidents are related, but the crimes were committed in a similarly brazen fashion.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Detectives William Matsubara or Todd Johnson at (562) 570-7244.
