A vehicle that caught fire charred a carport where it was parked in North Long Beach Friday afternoon, but crews were able to douse the blaze before it spread any more.

The blaze broke out a few minutes after noon at a home on Lime Avenue near Market Street, Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Brian Fisk said.

Some of the flames spread to the carport, but firefighters had them doused within about 15 minutes, Fisk said.

Nobody was hurt, he said.

Investigators were still working to determine what caused the blaze.
