A car and a train collided Sunday night in Long Beach, trapping the car’s driver inside, according to authorities.

The wreck happened around 7:54 p.m. Sunday at Long Beach Boulevard and Willow Street, where the Metro A Line runs in the middle of Long Beach Boulevard.

The Long Beach Fire Department said its crews used the Jaws of Life to cut the driver out of the car. The man, in his 30s, was taken to a local trauma hospital in serious condition, the LBFD reported. A female passenger was unhurt.

Details on what caused the crash weren’t immediately available. Police are investigating, the LBFD said.
