Los Angeles County firefighters rescued two people stuck in a drainage canal tunnel near Clark Avenue and East Del Amo Boulevard in Lakewood, officials said.
First responders received multiple calls at around 2 p.m. about two people possibly in a drainage tunnel or in a manhole, spokesman Austin Bennett said. When they got there, they found a man and woman in danger, one in the water in the canal and the other underground in a manhole but out of the water.

Rescuers got them out at about 4:15 p.m. Their condition is unknown, but no one was taken to a hospital, officials said.
Firefighters are still unsure how exactly the two people got there, but suspect it may have been via a drainage canal. Long Beach has received about an inch of rain since 11 a.m. Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Firefighters were using two helicopters with swimmers and an Urban Search and Rescue team to rescue the two, Bennett said.
