A four-year-old girl who was a victim of a two-alarm fire in a Long Beach apartment nearly two weeks ago has died, authorities said.

The girl, Camila Nieves, succumbed to her injuries at about 7:20PM Saturday at the Torrance Memorial Medical Center, where she was being treated for more than a week for her severe burns, confirmed a spokesperson from the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.

The spokesperson said the hospital gave the name to the coroner, but the girl’s case is still open and the name has not yet been confirmed.

Camila and her mother, Monica Del Rio, were found lying on a bed unconscious and unresponsive while their apartment was on fire on the 1000 block of Stanley Avenue just after midnight on March 26.

Both Del Rio and Camila were transported to St. Mary Medical Center by Long Beach Fire Department personnel. The girl was later transported to a burn center in Torrance, where she had since undergone several surgeries.

Del Rio, 47, was pronounced dead Thursday at about 3:36PM, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner. She died of thermal burns and smoke inhalation.

Camila’s official cause of death has yet to be determined.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, according to Long Beach Fire Department spokesperson Jake Heflin.
