6:15am | The night sky was lit up with a colorful array of fireworks during two pyrotechnics shows celebrating the Fourth of July Monday night to the delight of tens of thousands of onlookers.
The shows, one sponsored by the Port of Long Beach on the Long Beach waterfront and the other sponsored by the city at Veterans Memorial Stadium, were expected by officials to draw as many as 200,000 spectators.
The fireworks viewed along the city’s coastline were shot off from a floating platform just east of the Queen Mary.
Long Beach Post photographer Dale Brown was on hand at the seaside Fireworks Spectacular to capture some of the glittering explosions in the sky commemorating this nation’s independence.
