Two food distribution events are scheduled in North Long Beach this weekend and next weekend for residents in need.

The first one is taking place at Ramona Park this Saturday, March 13. The giveaway will start at 9 a.m. and run until 11 a.m. at 3301 East 65th Street.

There is no pre-registration required, and food will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis, according to event organizer Montserrat Pineda.

It will be a drive-thru event, but walk-ups are allowed for those who do not have access to a car or who live nearby, Pineda said.

“We do, however, prefer that if they can, to come by car,” she said.

The following weekend, on March 20, a second drive-up food giveaway will take place. In this case, pre-registration is required. To register, click here.

This event will take place at Jordan High School from 9 a.m. to noon. It is co-hosted by the Collins Neighborhood Association, Councilman Rex Richardson’s office and the Paramount School District.

Face masks are required. The line for cars to pick up will begin at Atlantic Avenue and Harding Street.
