3:35pm | The Long Beach Municipal Band will kick off their popular Concerts In The Parks performances this week with shows tonight at Los Cerritos Park, tomorrow at Marine Stadium and Friday at El Dorado Park.
The band’s performances regularly draw hundreds – sometimes thousands – of Long Beach residents to local parks for a free night of music and picnics. Just bring a blanket and some snacks and sit back. All shows begin at 6:30pm.
This week, led by conductor Larry Curtis, the band will perform with a “Good Ole Summertime” theme backed by vocals from Nicole Kubis. This marks Curtis’ 16th season as conductor of the Long Beach Municipal Band.
The band is one of the nation’s most distinguished professional community ensembles. Due to recent budget difficulties, there had been some uncertainty as to whether or not the live performances would be able to continue. But with this week’s shows quickly approaching, it looks like Long Beach is in for another summer of treats. The band usually sends around member with a donation hat, so let’s do what we can to keep the music coming.
