img 4210Funeral services will be held on Friday for Cal State Long Beach (CSULB) student Nohemi Gonzalez, who was killed during last month’s terrorist attacks in Paris.

The 23-year-old senior industrial design student died on Friday, November 13, while eating with friends at La Belle Equipe bistro. She was one of 17 CSULB students attending the Strate College of Design in Paris as part of a semester abroad program.

Gonzalez was one of 130 people who died in the coordinated attacks that took place at the cafe, a soccer stadium and at the Bataclan theater where a Palm Desert-based band, Eagles of Death Metal, was performing.

The funeral services will be held at Calvary Chapel in Downey at 1:00PM.

CSULB held a vigil for Gonzalez a few days after the attacks that drew in a crowd of about 500.

During the event, which was attended by family and friends, she was described as charismatic and compassionate.

“If there’s anything bad to say about her, I have nothing,” said Gonzalez’s stepfather, Jose Hernandez. “I can say so many good things about her. Mimi is in our hearts.”

A crowdfunding project was also established in her honor to assist CSULB students with international travel and study-abroad opportunities.
