A man was shot and wounded today in a carjacking in the Wrigley area of Long Beach, and a 16-year-old girl was taken into custody following a short pursuit, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 2:50 a.m. at Pacific Coast Highway and Maine Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers located the victim’s vehicle a short time later. After a short vehicle pursuit that ended in the area of Seventh Street and Daisy Avenue, the girl was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Police also recovered a firearm from the vehicle.

The 25-year-old victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition for treatment of a wound described as not life-threatening, police said.

The name of the suspect was not released. She is awaiting booking at the Long Beach Police Department.
