Looking for the perfect party to show off your perfect costume this Halloween? The spookiest of nights’ hottest celebration may be right here in downtown Long Beach, where Downtown Long Beach Associates is hosting their Halloween On Pine festival, complete with live bands, drink specials and more than $1,000 in prizes available for an array of costume contests.

DJ Groovy Lu will keep the fun going through the night, while the Laugh Factory will host a special live event and downtown restaurants will offer drink and food specials. On the event’s Facebook page, the description says to be on the lookout for “a few surprises that are sure to give you a THRILLER (hint, hint)!” – which possibly/likely/definitely means there will be a flash mob performance of the Michael Jackson classic (all the kids are doing them these days).

The event will attempt to continue the success from a flurry of recent Pine Avenue events, beginning with last year’s New Year’s Eve party, April’s biking race through the streets and several summer music festivals. On this upcoming New Year’s Eve, extreme motorsports competitor Travis Pastrana will attempt to break the record for longest jump covered in a rally car by speeding down Pine Avenue and hitting a jump that will send him over the water and onto a ship.

The madness begins at 8:00pm on Halloween, this Saturday, and lasts until midnight. Contact 562.436.4259 or downtownlongbeach.org for more information.
