In this first feature of healthy places to eat in Long Beach I visited Number Nine on 4th street.  I was so excited to hear of a restaurant that served organic, free range beef and poultry, from family owned farms.

Studies have shown that organic free range beef has as high a content of Omega 3 fatty acids as a filet of cold water fish.  Omega 3 is very important for managing inflammation levels, brain health, and pain levels.  Kudos to the owners for going the extra mile and supporting our local farmers as well, which carries a huge environmental impact!

As well, for anyone trying to cut wheat out of their diet because of gluten intolerance or allergies, they have great rice noodles in the pho.  This was the dish I had, with flank steak, and it came with a whole plate of fresh basil, mint, and sprouts to add into the soup.

To top it off I had a lychee infused jasmine iced tea which was great.  Mix in some good company and you’ve got yourself a great, healthy meal.
